The South Korean, who finished tied for first position in scoring in the Premier League the previous year, was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski after failing to score in any of Tottenham’s first eight matches.

But he retaliated in spectacular manner to take the spotlight, curling an incredible right-footer into the top corner, then a left-footer into the opposite side, and finally completing his hat trick with a goal that was first called out for offside.

As Son went off the field with the game ball and the exuberant home supporters screamed his name, the sense of relief that he felt was tangible.

“I have been disappointed, the team has been doing really, really good but I was disappointed with my performance,” Son said. “I knew goals were coming and I wasn’t worried. I’ve always had great supporters, teammates and coaches behind me.”

The win brought Tottenham up to 17 points, putting them level with champions Manchester City. However, Arsenal still has a chance to reclaim first place if they win away at Brentford on Sunday.

The heat on Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers continues to mount as the club is in last place with only one point after seven matches played.

The game started out with Leicester taking the lead thanks to a penalty kick by Youri Tielemans, but Spurs quickly responded with a goal of their own thanks to a header by Harry Kane.

Spurs defender Eric Dier pulled Spurs in front with a header from a corner, but Leicester forward James Maddison equalised for Leicester with an outstanding effort from just inside the 18-yard box. Maddison floated the ball over goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to give Leicester the lead.

At halftime, Leicester manager Brenden Rodgers must have believed that his team would go on to pick up their first victory of the Premier League season. However, Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was able to rush through on goal and score thanks to a mistake made by Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

However, it was Son who ended up being the highlight of the event.

In the 59th minute, he came in as a replacement for Richarlison, and 14 minutes later, he cut onto his right foot, took a shot, and sent it flying past Danny Ward, which sparked loud celebrations.

Despite this, he was not done. This time, Kane singled him out, and Son had only one thing on his mind as he moved inside and curved a shot past Ward from beyond the area. This time, Kane singled him out.

After Leicester’s defence began to break down, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg then sent a through ball to him, and he was able to defeat Ward.

There was a tense wait for the VAR review, and there was a big roar when it was revealed that the first offside judgement had been reversed.

As they prepare to go into the international break on a high note, Tottenham will take pride in the fact that they have not yet been defeated in any of their last 13 Premier League matches.
