Poor performance in the Champions League might cost Juventus millions.

In spite of the fact that Juventus has already been assured of receiving at least €50 million in income from the Champions League, if they are unable to go to the knockout rounds, they would lose out on millions more.

The European campaign of the Bianconeri has not gotten off to a good start; the squad suffered a defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in their first game and then underperformed against Benfica at their own stadium, resulting in a point total of 0 after their first two matches. Ahead of Juventus’ next encounter against the Israeli team Maccabi Haifa, the pressure is beginning to ramp up.

Juventus has already collected roughly €50 million in money from their participation in the Champions League; yet, the fact that they have not posted any results on the board might end up costing them much more.

Every victory ensures an additional €2.8 million, draws provide an additional €930,000, while defeats provide no further compensation. If they were unable to advance to the knockout rounds, they would lose out on an additional €9.6 million. These are significant numbers for the club as they aim to continue their reconstruction in an effort to go back to the top.
