Gallardo, the end of a wonderful era.

Gallardo

Marcelo Gallardo has said that he will step down as River’s coach in 2023. This will end an extremely successful eight-year cycle.

During that time, River won a total of 14 titles: two Copa Libertadores (2015 and 2018), three Recopas Sudamericana (2015, 2016, and 2019), one Copa Sudamericana (2014), one Suruga Bank Cup (2015), three Copa Argentina (2015-16, 2016-17, and 2018-19), three Supercopa Argentinas (2017, 2019 and 2021), and one Liga Profesional (2021).

His greatest moment was the 3-1 Copa Libertadores triumph against Boca at the Bernabeu in Madrid.

Gallardo hasn’t indicated where he’ll go next, although European teams have pursued him in previous years.

River rumours are circulating. Martin Demichelis, who is currently the manager of Bayern Munich’s B team, and Hernán Crespo, who led Defensa y Justicia to win the Copa Sudamericana, are said to be on the list. Another possibility is Pablo Aimar, of Argentina’s youth squad.
