Manchester City destroys United in the Derby.

Manchester Derby

On Sunday, Manchester City beat Manchester United 6-3 in the Premier League Derby. With 20 points after eight games, City is still in the second position below leader Arsenal.

It was a rude awakening for United given their recent progress, as the current Premier League winners ran amok to emphasise the vast quality gap.

The performance that Manchester City put in to defeat their rivals was nothing short of spectacular. In a match that was owned by the Citizens, both Phil Foden and Erling Haaland scored hat-tricks.

The fact that United outscored City in the second half (3-2), thanks in part to a stunning goal by newcomer Antony, is scarcely encouraging given the full picture.

This was the first game of the season in which Ronaldo was not utilised as a substitute. According to Erik ten Hag, the reason he didn’t bring Cristiano Ronaldo off the bench was “respect.”
