The most important FIFA novelties

One of the often critics of FIFA games is that the game usually brings few new features beyond the slight graphic and playable changes, and it is undeniable that it is a fair critic, but when it comes to FIFA 23 there are a couple of quite interesting novelties. Here are some of the most important ones.

1) World Cup DLC

Without a doubt, one of the things that all football fans look forward to is the world cup, and EA knows it perfectly, so FIFA 23 will have a World Cup mode, but it is important to mention that this mode will not come in the base game, since it will come as DLC content, so we will have to wait about a month for this free content to arrive and be playable with all the qualified teams in the tournament.

2) The last ‘FIFA’

It is confirmed that this game will be the last EA game to have ‘FIFA’ in its title, after this one the saga will be renamed ‘EA Sports FC’. This is news that although it is not technically new, it was recently confirmed by EA, and it still confuses many fans who do not understand why the name will change and what it actually means.
The name change is only because the contract between EA and FIFA will come to an end, so EA does not have the rights to put the title back on the following games of the franchise, but despite what someone might imagine, team, players and all league licenses will still be maintained, so there is no reason to worry about this.

3) Crossplay

FIFA 22 allowed us to try crossplay for the first time, but it had a couple of limitations that didn’t allow us to fully experience crossplay. However, FIFA 23 will have full functional crossplay. You will be able to face different users regardless of whether they are from a new generation console and you are from a computer or vice versa.
It is important to clarify that crossplay will be applied to all game modes, so it will not be limited to friendly matches, which expands the number of interesting rivals that you can face online; however, it will not be possible to take advantage of crossplay between consoles of different generations because there are aspects of the gameplay that are different.

4) Ted Lasso and the AFC Richmond

If you like to watch TV shows and you love football, surely you already know Ted Lasso and his fictional team, AFC Richmond. What we did not expect is that the success of this fantastic series made both the manager and his team join the new game, thus making this without a doubt one of the great surprises that EA has announced for FIFA 23.
It should be noted that not only will you be able to play with AFC Richmond in friendly matches, but you will be able to use both the team and the manager in career mode as if it were any other team, it will even be available in online game modes, so, if you are a fan of Ted Lasso and his team, you will surely have a lot of fun.

5) Career mode

A couple of changes come to career mode, both in manager and player modes.
The great novelty of the manager mode is that for the first time you can use real managers, either to manage your current club or any other club of your choice. Pep Guardiola, Joseph Mourinho, Diego Simeone, and many others will be available for you to choose from, although if you don’t want to play with a real manager, you can also create your own and personalize it as you want.
There will also be a transfer analysis that will help you analyze your negotiations to find out if the deals you have made could have been done in a better way, this way you can improve as a manager and make better deals in the future.
Those who have fun playing career mode as a singular player will also be able to enjoy several new features of this game mode; Now they will be able to give their character a personality and carry out activities on and off the pitch, and the player will have to make some decisions that will have an impact on the character too. Also, this FIFA will bring more options when it comes to customizing our character, including the possibility of including tattoos.

6) Women’s football clubs

Months ago, it was rumored that FIFA 23 would feature women’s football clubs for the first time, and what were rumors are now a certainty there will be many of the main girls’ clubs available to choose from and play with. It will be a great opportunity to see the unique HyperMotion2 technology animations that provide a very realistic touch to women’s football.

7) FUT moments

Fut moments is a new offline game mode within Ultimate Team, and is quite particular. Fut moments involve shorter matches where we will be given a series of objectives to meet within a set time limit. In this game mode, we will face different challenges or ‘moments’, and if we successfully overcome these challenges, we will win ‘Fut stars’, which we can exchange for different rewards.
The ‘moments’ are very varied and we can choose their level of difficulty, the higher the difficulty selected, the better the AI will behave and the assigned challenges will be more difficult, so even the most veteran players will be put to the test.
