Even if relegation is a real threat for Gareth Southgate’s, Harry Maguire will be starting tonight for England.
The English team is at the bottom of Group A3 after a thrashing 4-0 by Hungary in their most recent outing and must avoid a loss at San Siro to prevent relegation from the Nations League. Despite beginning 0-2-2, Southgate plans to make changes for Friday night’s encounter against Italy, starting with the return of Harry Maguire.
Maguire, who in 2019 was the protagonist of an £80m transfer from Leicester City, has had a difficult few seasons at Old Trafford and has lately lost his status in the Man Utd first squad.
The Manchester United defender has maintained his terrible performances from last season, which included awful displays in United’s opening losses to Brighton and Brentford. United have won their last four Premier League matches without the centre back after Erik ten Hag benched him.
