Celtic’s Champions League opponents RB Leipzig were defeated 3-0 earlier today by Borussia Mönchengladbach. Germany international Jonas Hofmann scored twice for Marco Rose’s team, while Bensebaini added a third.
Leipzig now sits 12th in the Bundesliga, and Rose will need to reverse the trend that saw his predecessor fired. The teams will meet on October 5th in Germany, and then again on October 11th in Paradise. Celtic are third in the league after a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk. Leipzig, meanwhile, is at the bottom of the table with nil points after being defeated by both the Ukrainian team and Real Madrid.
The match against the German club will be crucial in determining Celtic’s position in the group, with Real Madrid expected to win. Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, will be able to warn everyone about the dangers of taking Leipzig lightly. Dortmund were defeated 3-0 in Rose’s debut encounter against his old club.
On October 1st, Leipzig will host VfL Bochum, while Celtic will host Motherwell. Leipzig are a well-balanced team with a lot of dangerous players. Hopefully, the international break hasn’t come at the worst possible moment.
